Day 30

          During the afternoon, after school, I also managed to fix some of the lip sync clips that are out of sync. This is because, from the audience feedback, we received comments about how there were some lip sync that doesn't match. After reviewing the clips again, I realised there were some flaws on that. Therefore, I went to edit it again and here is the result:

Day 29

          Today I had another feedback from my teacher of my Poster and Digipak. I came to her to ask for her feedback as there were a couple changes made, since the last design were created, which I thought made those designs look better. Here is feedback that I got:

          As she told me she liked the Poster design, but not yet the Digipak design, I will plan on making those changes soon and get back to her to get more feedback.

          In the afternoon after school, I went to do more editing to our music video as it needed some polishing on some of the clips and the lip sync clips. On the very last part of the music video, I decided to add short cuts of the actor dancing/spinning around to break up the neon lights clips that seemed a little too long and a little boring from the last cut. We also use this cut as part of our survey that we are going to distribute to public, asking for their opinion about the music video.

          Later in the evening, I spent my time amending my digipak design. I was pleased to hear the feedback as there weren't any big changes needed to be made. I got rid of the 6th inside cover picture and swapped it with the long exposure shot picture. I also made some changes to the font of the quote to a clearer font and made it bigger to make it easier to read.

          I also changed the font of the track list to the same font used for the brand name that is blockier and changed it to regular, not italic. I also shifted the texts around to fit all of them in one box, arranged the list a little, and here is the final design of the back outside cover.

          When my teacher mentioned about the sides of the digipak (where it was only just black box) needs some more work, I was quite struggling as I don't know what to put in there. Therefore, because of that, I just simply put the brand name (as recommended) on the side, and added a little crop of a neon picture as well as the name of the album. I wasn't sure on how to present it, so I came up with 3 possible designs:

                                                       

          In the end, I decided to use the second design as I like it more than the others because it looks cleaner, in my opinion. Furthermore, as the teacher recommended me to change the front cover with the same picture layout used in the poster, I made that one changes as well to satisfy my teacher and made sure that I get the grade I can get from this. I really liked the simplicity of this cover, and I also think that it sells the artist brand better than the previous designs.

          With that, here is my newest digipak design:

Day 28

          This evening, I managed to stay at school to finish the editing for our music video. There are only very little editing needed to be done, as I only edited the very last part of the video after the 3rd Post-Chorus part. I decided to put some "behind the scene" sort of clips in there as I thought it would create a nice contrast in between the dancing clips. Furthermore, the clip where the artist was holding the neon lights close to her face because it's a close-up shot that features the artist face which could lead to a better facial recognition for the audience.

          So far, the video can be considered done. The construction of the music video is thoroughly constructed and edited; however, I think some clips and the lips sync needed to be sorted out still in the final touches, just to polish the music video. I am very proud of how good the music video turned out to be. All the hard work was definitely paid off!

Day 27

          This afternoon, I spent my time working on my digipak covers and do the changes recommended from the last feedback. I tried to also design the extra two inside covers on the left and right side since the blue photos does not match the whole theme of the digipak colour scheme. I decided to use the neon lights as the main idea of the design. However, since I didn't use yellow coloured neon light, I changed the colour of the pink neon to yellow on Photoshop. This worked out so well and it has enabled me to do two designs.

         Here, I came up with the idea of outlining the artist facial features using a picture of neon lights. The final design of this doesn't look too bad; therefore I decided to put it as my 6th inside cover. I did two designs, one with no yellow ambience, and one with on the right side illustrating a highlight:

          The second design that I came up with was a carving of the artist name/brand name. I used a different picture of neon lights and wrap it around to carve "LALA", which I then attached to the picture of her body wrapped with neon lights. 

          I had it as a panoramic sort of picture, but I developed the idea and made a couple of other simple designs from that.

          I was thinking about using the 2 lines picture as a background throughout the 4th, 5th and 6th inside cover. Although, after I tried it on Photoshop, it didn't turn out as I expected which made me cancel that idea. Therefore, I decided to use the frame design as my 4th inside cover. However, since I felt like it looks too empty, even though I sort of like its simplicity, I decided to put the quote I had on the previous 4th inside cover to fill in the space. I thought the cover looks better with the quote; therefore I include this in my digipak.

          Moreover, I did the long exposure shoot of the artist brand using glow sticks to carve the name. I fiddle around with the setting to get the picture I wanted. The result was not bad and I quite like how it looks. However, since I use yellow glow stick that looked green-ish, I had to edit the colour and change it to yellow to match the colour scheme of the digipak. As I like how it the result of the picture, I decided to put it as my second option of the 4th inside cover.

          All in all, here is how the new designs look like:

Day 26

          Tonight I managed to edit the last part of the music video. My plan was to get the rest of the last part of the video done tonight, however as it was quite late, I had to stop working using school computers. I have added the neon clips to the third chorus part and made the pace of the edit a little faster to build up the intensity.

          The video still needs polishing, and we are planning on editing again in 2 days.

Day 25

          Tonight I finished my final edit on my digipak. I had trouble matching my theme as I used black and quite bright colours. The pictures that I chose to edit were also different to one another. I attempted to do edits and failed to link the pictures together.

          However, I tried more different edits and finally came up with this design:

          I asked for feedback from some people around, and they suggested:

          However, when I showed these designs to Mrs. Fudge, she said it doesn't work with the theme and it doesn't look that good. With that, I had a meeting with Mrs, and she suggested editing the 3rd outside cover to be looked like an Instagram pictures layout with 9 squares grid. I agreed to that idea since I can link it back as me using a proliferating social media (Instagram) associated to our younger audiences. She also suggested putting a long exposure shot of the artist brand name in neon colour for the 4th inside cover.

Day 24

       After doing the filming last night, we edited it immediately this lunch time and we managed to construct the 1st and 2nd part of the Chorus with the new Neon clips. It wasn't that hard to edit the part as we had enough footage to fill the Chorus parts of the music video - including the last part. There are a couple changes made as well on the last part of the Chorus, I edited the long split-screen slip to make it faster and match it with the beat to engage more. I say, the extra Neon scene add more variety, however repetitive, to the music video which I believe will increase the audiences interest.

Day 23

          Tonight I filmed the neon light scene with the actor. As this shoot was a little spontaneous, we didn't really have any solid plan in mind. With that, I decided to wrap the actor's body with the neon lights and direct her to dance and use the video light to create a spotlight effect on her.

          I tried two different lighting where one I shine the light towards the actor from the front, and the other from above which created the spotlight effect.

          By doing this experiment, I can see if there was any other lighting I can use to add variations to the clip. As I reviewed the clip during the experiment, I realised that the first lighting was not a good lighting as it doesn't create any atmosphere to the clip. With that, I continue filming with the spotlight set up. The set up I used is the same one as the one for the Spotlight Scene shoot.

          There are a couple of problems we had during filming. As we wrapped the lights around the actor, they moved as the actor moved even when it's tightly wrapped. With that, I used a transparent tape to tape the light onto the actor's back to keep the lights in place even when she's dancing.

          Moreover, throughout the filming process, it was quite difficult to keep up with shining the light on top of the actor, as well as moving around with the camera and keeping the actor on frame. I tried a couple things such as directing the actor not to move around too far and shortening the monopod so it didn't touch the ground. Despite that, the result of the recording was good, and we liked how it turned out.

Day 22

          We finally got our 4th cut music video editing this afternoon. We are planning on shooting for more scenes for the performance part of the music video as the scene that we had, as the teacher commented, was apparently too long. We needed more variations and so we have planned new shots even if it was a little rushed as we couldn't come up with a good idea. 

          From the video editing side, we have combined very short clips for the transitions. This adds more to the music video as we put the short clips following the narrative. However, there are some marked areas throughout the video that indicates the part needs changing. We are close to finishing, and we are hoping to finish the whole video by the next lesson.
